For anyone having a difficult time getting their recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, juicing may be the answer. Certified raw food chef Lisa Piper demonstrates to restaurant journalist and radio host Cleverley Stone four easy juicing recipes that can help people get their fruits and vegetables and may aid in kidney, bladder, heart and pancreatic health, and irregularity.

Juice Recipes

Tools needed: Juicer, blender, knife, cutting board
Organic fruits and vegetables are preferred for all recipes
Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly before using.
Watermelon Flush
(For Kidney/Bladder)
Ingredients
2 large slices of watermelon, leaving black seeds in
½ cucumber, skin on, seeds in
Large bunch of fresh mint
Preparation
1. Remove rind from watermelon. Cut into chunks, leaving seeds in.
2. Juice mint and cucumber together in the juicer. Set aside.
3. Place watermelon chunks with seeds into a blender. Add cucumber/mint juice and blend together.
4. Serve immediately.
Apple Flow (for constipation)
Ingredients
1 red apple (your choice of variety)
1 orange
Handful of watercress
Juice from 1/2 lemon, freshly squeezed
½ tbs flax oil
Preparation
1. Cut apple in half and remove seeds. Leave peel on.
2. Remove peel from orange, including pith.
3. Juice apple, orange and watercress together.
4. Pour into a glass.
5. Stir in lemon juice and flax oil.
6. Serve immediately.
Red Iron Juice
(Anemia and Heart Health)
Ingredients
½ raw red beet, stalk on
Stalk from the beet
Handful of raw spinach
1 cup red grapes
1 tsp black strap molasses
1 tsp spirulina
Preparation
1. Cut the stalk off the beet. Wash stalk and beet thoroughly. Cut beet in half. Save the stalk.
2. Juice 1/2 beet, beet stalk, spinach and grapes together.
3. Pour into glass.
4. Stir in molasses and spirulina.
5. Serve immediately.
Diabetes Buster (supports pancreas)
Ingredients
½ cucumber, skin on, seeds in
1 green apple, peel on, remove seeds
1 large leaf Swiss chard
1 cup blueberries
¼ bitter melon (looks likes a bumpy cucumber)
Juice from 1/2 lemon, freshly squeezed
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Preparation
1. Juice cucumber, apple, Swiss chard, blueberries and bitter melon together.
2. Pour in glass.
3. Stir in lemon juice and cinnamon.
4. Serve immediately.
