Football, Food Combined for Greater Purpose

People in the Houston area who crave South American food now have a more charitable motivation toward fulfilling their culinary needs.

For the first time in its brief team history, the Houston Texans, in conjunction with Cordua Restaurants, will launch its premiere Houston Texans Foundation Restaurant Week. Proceeds from 10 percent of customer bills will benefit the Houston Texans Foundation when presented with a special Restaurant Week invitation available online at the Houston Texans website.

Several Texans players will appear at select locations among the Cordua family of restaurants, which includes Artista, Americas Post Oak and both Churrascos locations.

The Texans will host a kickoff party to launch the week-long event on Monday, March 23, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at all participating Cordua restaurant locations.

  • starting quarterback Matt Schaub will appear Monday at the Americas Post Oak
  • wide receiver Kevin Walter will appear at Artista, in the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
  • strong safety Nick Ferguson will appear at the Churrascos River Oaks
  • defensive tackle Frank Okam will appear at the Churrascos Westchase

The Houston Texans Foundation helps support the Houston Texans YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston, in addition to other programs.
